Glen Scotia Distillery,
Double Cask

46% ABV

SINGLE MALT CAMPBELTOWN SCOTCH WHISKY

Glen Scotia Double Cask is a classic Campbeltown malt, the distillery has a formidable pedigree of whisky making since 1832.

The Double Cask expression is matured in first fill bourbon barrels before being finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks — this provides the perfect balance of rich spicy fruits overlaid with the characteristic sea spray and iconic vanilla oak finish of the house of Glen Scotia.

Non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Very sweet. Initially, it is all creme caramel, caramelised fruit sugars, wood sugar, toffee and fudge before some apple and peach come through. In time, a charred note of bourbon with a pleasing dusty dryness. Has some power.

Taste: Sweet start and quite fat. Though the alcohol gives a little tongue-tingling buzz, the result is a good mid-palate weight. The dry distillery character is still there, but there is now depth to counter. Water slightly dismantles the different elements but adds some dried mint.

Finish: Deep and dark, with gentle spice and lingering peat smoke.

The Scotch Noob - "The aroma is heavenly, the liquid on the tongue is well-balanced and emphatic, and the finish is complex."

About the Distillery

Since 1832, Glen Scotia has been shaped by people, time and events – as well as the history of Campbeltown itself. Campbeltown is a very special place in Scotland, referred to as ‘the centre of the universe’ by some of its current residents. With an abundance of rich farmland, local barley, peat and fresh water, it was almost inevitable it would become a vital part of the history of whisky distilling. Today, Glen Scotia continues to thrive at the heart of the whiskiest place in the world. Glen Scotia is a fine example of this historic region.
