From the exuberant releases of Billy Walker to the calmed, pared-back look of Brown Foreman, Benriach’s reputation has now solidified as a very fine producer of orchard fruits inspired spirit.

For this 2023 release, Cadenhead’s have added another layer of fruitiness and sweetness to this spirit, by having it fully matured in ex-Sauternes casks, that famed sweet wine from Bordeaux in France. So, the oak would be French.  Look out for the spice then.

Nose: Butter, banana split, waxy apple skin, custard creams, apricot.

Flavour: White grapes, light vanilla, almonds, marzipan, Victoria sponge, shortcrust pastry.

Finish: Marzipan, croissants, gooseberries
