A limited-edition single malt matured in the finest Virgin American oak casks for ten years. Every drop is made by hand using the sharpened senses of our distillers who put their heart and soul into making award-winning whisky.

 

At Benromach, we typically use first-fill Sherry and Bourbon casks to mature our whiskies. However, as our Contrasts range is all about providing a twist on our core style, we decided to mature our subtly smoky spirit in Virgin American oak casks for this special release.

These casks are handmade by expert coopers in Scotland and have not previously held any other spirit.

This has resulted in tropical fruit flavours not typically seen in our core Benromach range.

 

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fragrant dried banana with freshly squeezed lemon and soft vanilla fudge.

Taste: Seville orange zest with rich butterscotch and smooth smoke.

Finish: Long-lasting citrus with lingering notes of mature oak.

 

About the Distillery

Benromach is a traditional Speyside distillery owned by a family of whisky-lovers intent on making single malt the right way with true character. A handful of distillers relying entirely on expertise and senses to make the finest handmade whisky; Speyside single malt matured exclusively in first-fill casks, with a subtly smoky character along with their renowned Red Door Gin. Recalling the Speyside tradition of topping up fires with cuts of peat when coal ran low, the Scottish barley is grown locally and malted with a little peat smoke to Benromach's exact specifications before being ground into grist in their 120 year-old four-roller Boby Mill. They specify a lightly peated barley, giving the whiskies their distinctive Speyside character.
