Macbeth - Servant, 14YO
55.1% ABV
Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distilled at Clynelish in first fill bourbon barrels, Servant is a limited release of 1600 bottles and is 1 of 10 Characterful Whiskies in The Household series.
This series of Shakespearean Scotch whiskies is the product of a collaboration between design studio Livingstone, whisky writer Dave Broom, Elixir Distillers and the legendary illustrator Sir Quentin Blake.
“Clynelish is one of the most sought after and revered malts, loved for its unique waxy character. For a blender however, it can be the foundation to build a blend, allowing other malts to shine. This particular whisky, fully matured in first fill bourbon, wears its responsibility for service well, with the butterscotch sweetness and candlewax texture supported by ground ginger and toasted vanilla. This is certainly a supporting character to take note of, as you rarely get to see it centre stage.” - Oliver Chilton, Head Distiller at Elixir Distillers
Notes by whisky writer Dave Broom
The night’s torch has been snuffed out,
wax gathering in the holder.
A new dawn.
Dreams of happier times -
a fresh breeze, heavy with hot gorse
leans in at the window,
a moment of bliss in the madness.
Then the voice calls, the reverie shattered.
It is not yet over.
Macbeth:
"Go, prick thy face, and over-red thy fear,
Thou lily-liver’d boy…
…Those linen cheeks of thine
Are counsellors to fear". Macbeth Act V SC.3 LN.14, William Shakespeare
