Single Malts of Scotland, Reserve Cask Mannochmore 11YO (700ml)
Single Malts of Scotland,
Reserve Cask
Mannochmore 2009 (11YO)
48% ABV
The Single Malts of Scotland Reserve Casks are a flavour-led exploration of fine single malts, bottled in small batches of four to ten casks. Each parcel of bottles shows the variety of styles and flavours found across Scotland, and the differences in angel’s share depending on region. Bottled at a consistent 48% with no added colour and no chill-filtration, the Reserve Casks are intended to suit the palates of both novices and experts alike.
A batch of seven hogsheads from Mannochmore distillery was used to create this single malt, distilled in 2009 and aged for more than 11 years.
Loaded with a generous showing of fresh, zingy and delectable flavours – a lipsmacking treat of a dram.
Region: Speyside
Tasting Notes
Nose: An immediate hit of lime-and-dill pickle and the sweetly intense aroma of hay bales, stacked in a field on a summer’s day. Oodles of spiced apple sauce, dolloped on pork rind. Bread-and-butter pudding mingles with sharp fruit jellies.
Taste: Damson-plum jam, heaped on hot toast, is followed up quickly by boiled pear drops, shaken in a paper bag with powdered-sugar bonbons. Toasted cardamom pods and calvados-laced custard add to the feast of flavours.
Finish: Deliciously refreshing – sparkling elderflower cider mingles with burnt brioche buns, sprinkled with chopped pistachios. A tiny prickle of white pepper rests on.
