The Hunting of the Snark
Peated second-fill Apera. 520 bottles
What is a Snark? The Hunting Of The Snark was originally published on April Fools Day by Lewis Carroll in 1876 and no one is completely sure what one even looks like. You can hunt a Snark however, “with thimbles, you may hunt it with forks and hope; you may threaten its life with a railway-share; or charm it with smiles and soap”. After publishing the poem of the Snark, Carroll continued to be evasive on its meaning, refusing to answer questions about it. Eventually, he admitted that it was intended to be a parable about the search for happiness.
Peanut brittle on the nose. The body is a caramel oil slick, with a meaty vegetable smoke that lingers long into the soft herbal smoke. Fruity, floral, with lovely aromatics. Very well matured. Great balance between spirit and cask. The soft smoke character hums along as the palate develops. Estery, floral through the finish. This is a cuddly whisky. It invokes happy fireside memories, toasting marshmallows, sharing stories and laughter with friends. Enjoy it with the ones you love.
