Kilkerran Single Malt Whisky is produced in the Glengyle Distillery, re-opened in 2004 after originally operating from 1872-1925, Mitchell’s Glengyle is under the ownership of Mr Hedley Wright, chairman of Springbank Distillery and descendant of Glengyle’s founder William Mitchell.

The distillery has been producing its Kilkerran Single Malt since March 25th 2004 and has bottled a series of releases under the Work In Progress label over the past number of years with the 16yo expression launching in 2020. This batch of Kilkerran 16yo has been matured in predominantly bourbon casks but with a welcome addition of sherry influence, more so than previous release. This year's cask makeup is comprised of 60% bourbon 40% sherry casks and is bottled at 46% ABV.

Similar to the "Work In Progress" series—and all releases from Glengyle’s sister distillery Springbank—the whisky has not been chill-filtered and no caramel colouring has been added.

The whisky is double distilled in the traditional Scottish style and is produced from lightly-peated malt at around 12-15ppm.

As with previous Kilkerrans, this edition of the Kilkerran 16 is only available in limited quantities and will sell out fast.
