Loch Lomond, Inchmurrin Madeira (700ml)
Loch Lomond Distillery - Inchmurrin, Madeira Cask Finish
LOCH LOMOND DISTILLERY, ISLAND COLLECTION
Loch Lomond Master Distiller Bill White selects American oak Bourbon barrels to begin the maturation process, then marries these together for a further maturation in casks that have previously been used for making Madeira wine.
The Maderia cask finish enhances the orchard fruit character of peach and pear, with marzipan and nutmeg coming to the fore. Finally giving a dry nuttiness to the long, oak finish.
Nose: Deep, juicy malt and stone fruit, lime peel and crushed almond.
Palate: Richly textured mouthfeel, rounded nutty toffee or praline, sweet wood spice, a hint of pot pourri and citrus.
Finish: Finishes as lusciously as it began; creamy, oily, pruny, nutty, and honeyed.
The enchanting isle of Inchmurrin is the largest of Loch Lomond’s islands and was once home to a chapel built by Christian monks in the 7th century.
Known as the ‘grassy isle’, it is soft, rounded and wonderfully wooded—attributes sought after in many a malt.
Large enough to support a small community, Inchmurrin lends its name to three distinctive whiskies in the island collection—each unique, but all sharing the characteristics which make this range beautifully different.
Inchmurrin Whisky is distilled in the unique stills that give the whisky light, floral and grassy notes.
