Dunnet Bay Distillery, Rock Rose Gin

Originally distilled as an exclusive edition for the Craft Gin Club in August 2020, it was so well received that it was decided to make it part of the core range. The most experimental edition from Rock Rose to date was inspired by the Caithness coastline and is distilled using locally foraged kelp from Shore Seaweed and liquorice salt from Hebridean Mustard Company.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Warm juniper notes giving way to bright lemon and verbena notes

Taste: Fresh citrus balanced with oceanic umami flavour of kelp

Finish: A hint of salinity coming through from the liquorice salt with more citrus on the finish

About the Distillery

Located in Dunnet Bay near northern most coast of the Scottish mainland, Dunnet Bay Distillery is grounded in an ethos of tradition and sustainability. In 2020, they made headlines for selling their gin in fully recyclable pouches.  But the gin has been around far longer than that. Each bottle is hand-filled, individually wax-sealed, batch numbered and hand-signed before it leaves the distillery. Great care is taken throughout the whole process to ensure that only the very best quality products will leave their wee distillery in Dunnet.
