ABOUT SINGLE MALTS OF SCOTLAND RESERVE CASKS

The Single Malts of Scotland Reserve Casks are a flavor-led exploration of fine single malts, bottled in small batches of three to ten casks. Each parcel of bottles shows the variety of styles and flavors found across Scotland, and the differences in angel’s share depending on region. Bottled at a consistent 48% with no added color and no chill-filtration, the Reserve Casks are intended to suit the palates of both novices and experts alike.

A small batch of six craft American standard barrels from Caol Ila Distillery have been used to create this Islay Single Malt, distilled in 2014 and aged for eight years. This is a fresh and smoky whisky, reminiscent of bonfires at the seaside.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet smoke and maritime - A bonfire burns by the brisk ocean seaside. The sweet tanginess of lemon drizzle cake appears, complete with crunchy vanilla sugar glaze.

Taste: Cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg accent this citrus-packed dram. Lemons and limes are joined by hints of glace ginger. Salty liquorice creates an almost electric-like current running through the background.

Palate: Sweetness takes over, a juicy ripe pear sprinkled with flaked sea salt.
