Excelencia Gran Reserva Anejo Tequila

40% ABV, 1000ml

Produced at the La Altena distillery in the highlands of Arandas in Jalisco Mexico, Tapatio Tequila Excelencia extra anejo is typically made for the private consumption of the Carlos Camarena family. From time to time small releases are made available for export allowing the magic of Carlos to be enjoyed by all. Using only the finest agaves from his crop, Camarena uses traditional methods and a heirloom still to produce what is arguably one of the best extra anejo's available.

This expression has been aged in new French Oak for 3-4 years.

Nose: Intense agave aromas of buttered grilled peppers and spice followed by Toffee-apples, pastry-crusts and some delicate floral notes.

Taste: Wonderful pure agave, spongecake sweetness, spices, brown sugar, cocoa and a pleasantly tweedy note - all bound together into a sumptuous whole by the enveloping creamy oak.

Finish: Warm, rich, absurdly intricate and incredibly long, with the oak character becoming slightly drying toward the death.
